The lodging was designed for a couple of young lodgers. The initial idea for the design stemmed from the wish to present a bond between the newcomers and the old Yemenite neighborhood. I studied a naïve painting by Raffi Peretz to set up an approach to a merge of East and West. In the painting Peretz represents the sea shore promenade in Tel Aviv through symbolic architectural elements of Manhattan. The merge of architectural ornaments with modern building symbols created a unique house, which uses an innovative formal language to communicate with its outside surroundings and with its interior.
